b. 1997, Singapore
Samantha Taylor is a Singaporean-Australian artist, arts worker and Mother. Drawing from subjective experience, her research-based practice examines identity politics, trauma and intergenerational relations. Working in minimalist painting, installation and text, Samantha surveys her role within immediate environments—the artist studio, the domestic space and regional suburbia.
Samantha completed a Bachelor of Design Arts (Visual Art) through Lasalle College International Melbourne (2020), and a First-Class Honours degree in Creative Arts from Deakin University (2021). She has exhibited across Geelong, Melbourne and internationally in Singapore. In 2021, Samantha was selected for the artist-led exchange and digital residency between Platform Arts, Geelong and Laselle College of the Arts, Singapore. In the same year, she co-founded the virtual platform 'GG Connected' (@ggconnected) through her position as digital trainee with Geelong Gallery.  In 2023, she participated in an artist development program 'Neighbourhood LAB' through Platform Arts, which evolved into a continuing collaborative artist collective (@nbrhoodcollective).
As an emerging curator and producer, Samantha founded the artist run program 'RUT.' (@rut_gallery). Its current location—Rutland Street—is a test site for experimental exhibitions and public programs, with emphasis on trial and error.
